Welcome back Brian from his trip to Peru, where he hiked up part of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu with his son, Scott. Brian traded AMD and TQQQ with me this morning. You can watch the recap we posted in our YouTube channel here, and make sure to subscribe and ask your questions in the Comments section too. Diddly Doodly!

Today’s Global News and Financial Recap

Stocks rose in Europe after US President Joe Biden said that tariffs imposed on China by the Trump administration were under consideration, sparking speculation that there may be a reversal of some measures. US stocks also rose, in a volatile day that went green and red all morning long. The market has shown some signs of bottoming, but participants in a recent MLIV Pulse survey expect the S&P 500 Index gauge to keep falling and bottom around SPY at $350. Get ready for a fresh slump in SPY, the world’s most-watched stock index, as economic growth fears spiral and the Federal Reserve embarks on its biggest policy-tightening campaign in decades.

And Finally…

Still fresh from the pandemic, it appears we might have another one soon, as Beijing has reported a record number of new COVID-19 cases. Containing COVID-19 has come at a crushing social and economic cost for China. Millions of Shanghai residents have been confined to their homes for weeks, and even though the lockdown is easing, many restrictions remain in place. Meanwhile, confirmed and suspected monkeypox cases have been identified in Europe and North America in recent weeks, raising alarm in a world still reeling from COVID-19 outbreaks.

Let’s hope we do not have to deal with another round of the pandemic anytime soon.

To your success,
Andrew
