Today marked the Federal Reserve’s meeting date. They reaffirmed their 2% inflation target for the long term and doubled down on their messaging regarding interest rates. It’s safe to say that we shouldn’t expect a zero-interest-rate period anytime soon. The days when you were rewarded for taking on risk, or Silicon Valley’s era of zero interest rates, are behind us. Be prepared for an environment of elevated interest rates.
As we speak, market is experiencing a sell-off, but volatility remains astonishing. Tesla, for instance, made significant round-trip movements up and down today, allowing many traders in the community to secure substantial gains. We anticipate that interest rates will remain elevated for a while.
