Lightning Bolts and Mountain Tops
Dear Traders,
I am writing this email to you as I travel from the southernmost tip of South America (Ushuaia, Argentina) to El Chaltén, a village within Argentina’s Santa Cruz province, which is in the heart of Patagonia.
Over the weekend, I completed the hardest single day Ultramarathon I have done thus far. It was 50 kilometers in length with a 3,100-meter elevation gain (30 miles, 10,000-foot gain). Let me tell you, it tested me to the core! While running the “End of the World” race, I felt weaker than I can recall in any other race and I almost bailed halfway through. However, I remembered that I am inclined to be more of a finisher than a quitter and so I kept moving forward, step by step by step. Just as in life, a trader must persevere through the difficult times to reap the rewards of this profession. Thank you for all the kind thoughts and notes of good luck.
Once I reach Patagonia, I will be climbing Mojon Rojo over the next few days. Unfortunately, I expect the Internet here to be terrible and I sense I will miss being in the chat. I definitely will connect with you next week. From the summit of Mojon Rojo I will be able to view the Monte Fitz Roy massif, an impressive mountain range in Patagonia, on the border between Argentina and Chile. From the pictures that I have seen, I think I will find it to be one of the most beautiful places on Earth.
