Market Volatility is High and Going Higher

Dear Traders,

Andrew is headed out on his next adventure, running a 65K (40 mile) ultramarathon in the Azores. Since he was traveling today, Thor hopped in to cover the Open with Brian. The earnings season continues. We’re seeing an exceptional amount of volatility in the market, the likes of which we really haven’t experienced since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. In the chatroom, we took advantage of some great moves on AMD, Z, and DKNG. You can watch the recap here.

Today’s Global News and Financial Recap

Fed chair Jerome Powell announced on Wednesday that there would be a 50 basis point hike in the Fed funds rate in an effort to help slow inflation. While the market has been anticipating this, the assurance by JPow that the Fed was not looking at a 75 basis point hike calmed some fears and sent the markets higher in the afternoon session. On the surface, it seemed the market was happy to know that a series of 0.5% hikes was planned instead of a larger shock to the system. However, this proved not to hold as the bears took control of the market on Thursday with the biggest sell off we’ve seen in a single day since the spring of 2020 when the COVID lockdowns first began to happen.

At Bear Bull Traders…

We’ve wrapped up another great week of webinars and are looking forward to next week. Here’s a quick rundown of what you can expect for next week.

For Monday Technology, join Carlos at 8pm ET for a webinar on how he and I conduct pre-market analysis. Carlos will discuss how best to find Stocks in Play and then how to identify key levels of support and resistance while analyzing your charts.

For Tuesday Strategy, commencing at 8pm ET, Thor will be leading a webinar entitled: Volume and Price Analysis Part 2. Thor will specifically be discussing how volume affects candle formation and how volume establishes value areas over time.

For Wednesday Psychology, Créde will return at 5pm ET with a discussion on how to neutralize pressure while trading. Amongst the many pressure-induced problems that arise in trading, Créde will in particular be discussing how to deal with paralysis by analysis and impulsive decision-making.

And Finally…

In the last few months we’ve been working hard to reimagine our YouTube content. We’ve been brainstorming on how to provide the community with the most interesting and beneficial videos we can. I hope you’ve enjoyed these changes that include our new weekly AfterHours with Traders segment and our Stock Market Today show which we livestream several times a week in the afternoon. Be sure to subscribe to the channel here in order to be notified when we are going live so that you can catch these great conversations.

We also continue to develop and improve tradingterminal.com and stocktradingsimulator.com. I hope you find these tools to be beneficial as well. While a lot of work has been put into these new products and programs, more is yet to come.

All the Best,
Norm for Andrew
